Roy stresses proper implementation of schemes

GUWAHATI, Aug 8 � Minister for Public Health Engineering (PHE) Gautam Roy has laid emphasis on the need for the departmental officers to be focused, alert and vigilant for ensuring proper implementation of the different schemes at the grassroots level.

Reviewing the departmental schemes and policies on Saturday in his office chamber at the Dispur Secretariat, the Minister also asked the officers to play a proactive role to achieve the target of the schemes and policies being implemented by the department, an official release said. �

In addition, the Minister held a detailed discussion on the department�s schemes in various districts of the state and also took stock of the targets, progress and achievements. The meeting discussed the yearly target of water supply and sanitation in human habitations, prevention of presence of arsenic, fluoride and iron in contaminated water, progress of rain water harvesting and restoration of defunct water pipe schemes.

The meeting also had a discussion on the proposal submitted under National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) and the state plan for Administrative Approval and Technical Clearance.�

Amongt others, HK Borah, Secretary, SK Baruah, Deputy Secretary, DK Das, Chief Engineer (Water Supply), Dipak Ghosh, Chief Engineer (Sanitation) each of the PHE Department along with other additional chief engineers and superintending engineers of different districts, divisions, zones and circles were present at the meeting, the release further added.
