Round Table India team distributes flood relief

GUWAHATI, Aug 21 - Round Table India (RTI) distributed flood relief material among 1,200 families in the flood-affected areas of Jorhat and Golaghat district yesterday, a press release received here stated.

The Guwahati City Round Table 239(GCRT 239) and Jorhat Round Table 261 (JRT 261) together took up the task once again as in 2016 and distributed relief material worth approximately Rs 15 lakh among the needy. The fund for the purpose was accumulated with generous contributions from people across India with the help of more than 300 round tables present in different parts of the country.

The area convener for community services, Venus Agarwal initiated the project with the help of area chairman Vikram Singhania, which was than supported by GCRT 239 and JRT 261 to carry out the relief work.

The relief material included mosquito nets, bedsheets, mosquito coil, tarpaulin, baby food, biscuits, bath soap, surf, buckets, candles, match box, flattened rice, gram, potato, soya bean, sugar and water bottles.

The relief material was distributed among the needy flood-hit people at Kumargaon-120 families, Phokot Gaon-73, Koibotrogor-34, Changmaighar-27, Kumar Baheti-103, Kolbari-59, Hokotsubari-52, Hatipora-56, Chinatoli-49, Ghurasuwa Habi-20, Jugonia Gaon-130, Parrongia Gaon-140, Nikorighat-130, Japoripathar-100 and Rajagoan-100 respectively.

The members of Round Table India thanked the local authorities and the members of local NGO Mangalam, who helped them distribute the flood relief material among the deserving people.
