Rotary Club activities hailed

GUWAHATI, July 6 � Eminent Gandhian and Padmashree awardee Natwar Thakkar has hailed the activities of Rotary Club and implored every Rotarian to aim for reaching greater heights. He was speaking as chief guest at the 57th installation ceremony of the Rotary Club of Guwahati at the Rotary Multi-service Centre here Tuesday evening. Nephrologist and Vice-Chancellor of Assam Down Town University Dr Nandita Choudhury attended the ceremony as guest of honour.

The installation of the club�s new president and board of directors was witnessed by Rotarians from various clubs and invited guests as outgoing president Dr Anil Kumar Goswami handed over charge to the new incumbent Rohini Pran Changkakoti.

In his emotional farewell speech, Dr Goswami expressed his gratitude to all Rotarians for extending unflinching support during his tenure. He also highlighted the cultural bridge that was achieved through music, dance and exchange programmes, adding that Rotary�s image has gone up manifold with the success of those programmes.

Incoming president Changkakoti in his acceptance speech reiterated the clarion call of Rotary International�s theme of the year to �Reach within to embrace humanity� and vowed to carry forward the solid foundation laid down by his illustrious predecessors.

Incoming secretary Parthapratim Phukan while expressing thanks, highlighted the traits of an effective club and committed to go about his work to the best of his ability.
