Rongmei student body demands fresh recruitment in EMRS

By Correspondent

IMPHAL, May 18 - The Rongmei Students Organisation Manipur (RSOM) has demanded fresh recruitment process of staff (teaching and non-teaching) of Eklavaya Residential Model School (EMRS) particularly in Tamenglong district by advertising the notice in all major local newspapers.

Well launch democratic agitations in collaboration with other like-minded students organisations if the authorities fail to address the matter within a months time, said RSOM general secretary Jeanthui Panmei. We also demand booking of those involved in the recruitment process.

Addressing a press conference at Manipur Press Club here recently, he said that they came to know about the recruitment to around 210 posts, both teaching and non-teaching of EMRS in Moreh, Saparmeina and Tamenglong in the current month.

But the notification of the said recruitment has not been published in any daily local newspaper or print media, he alleged. Further, the holding of the recruitment process during election time is also a violation of election model code of conduct, he added.

The students body also demanded immediate cancellation of the recent recruitment process. Condemining the alleged misconduct and practice in education sector, the RSOM leader asked the State Government to check the recruitment process.

EMRS for Scheduled Tribe students are set up in States and Union Territories with funds through Grants under Article 275(1) of the Constitution, according to official sources. The establishment of EMRSs are based on demand of the States and Union Territories with availability of land as an essential attribute.
