TURA, Dec 2 - The first-ever two-day tourism festival in the picturesque village of Rongma Gitil under Kharkutta in North Garo Hills district began on Friday.
The festival is being organised by Rongma Gitil Tourism Society in collaboration with the North Garo Hills district administration. Meghalaya Tourism Minister, Metbah Lyngdoh stated that he was amazed at what Garo Hills presented and sought local entrepreneurs to take over.
He promised help in the improvement of the area through project support though he stopped short of declaring it a �place of tourist interest� until the entire infrastructure was in place. DK Sangma, deputy CEM of GHADC also promised to help build toilets and committed at least Rs 3 lakh for its development. � Correspondent
