Rongali Bihu celebrated at Haflong

HAFLONG, April 17 � With the initiative of the Deputy Commissioner, Dima Hasao Juri Phukan, Rongali Bihu was celebrated with traditional fervor and great enthusiasm at the premises of DC�s Bungalow on Wednesday.

In the evening, the programme started with the lighting of lamp by DC, Dima Hasao and Anup Biswas, president, Haflong Press Club in presence of huge gatherings.

This was followed by felicitation of invitees including Army officials and others with traditional gamosa by the Deputy Commissioner and the officials of DC�s establishment.

The Deputy Commissioner in her speech said highlighted about the rich tradition and culture and assured to make the district more beautiful. She also sought full cooperation from all section of the people of Dima Hasao. Later, the Deputy Commissioner sang few Bihu songs which kept the audience spellbound.

Meanwhile, under the leadership of Subarna Handique, president, Haflong Namghar, the artists including children performed Bihu dance till midnight.

The entire programme was conducted by Dhirunath Barman.
