DIPHU, May 11 � Brisk preparations are on to celebrate Rongali Bihu at Howraghat town by the United Students of Karbi Anglong (USOKA), Howraghat regional unit. The bihu celebration will be held with a two-day long programme on May15- 16.
A strong reception committee has been constituted taking Pankaj Rajbongshi and Jintu Hazarika as president and secretary.
The Bihu utsav celebration will begin with the hoisting of the bihu flag. The flag will be unfurled by Pankaj Rajbongshi, president, reception committee. Tributes will be offered by Deben Gogoi and floral tributes will be offered at the statue of Dr Bhupen Hazarika thereafter.
The traditional games and sports will be held . Subsequently, the State level Bihu dance competition will begin from 8 pm in the evening and the competition event will be inaugurated by Tilak Chandra Kakati. On the next day, the bihu utsav celebration will begin with a debate competition and the cultural night will be inaugurated by Joymati Narzary in the evening.
