By Sanjoy Ray

GUWAHATI, May 18 - After Basanta Doley and Samedur Rahman, forensic reports have indicated towards the involvement of another former member of the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) in the cash-for-job scam.

This time, it is a former lady member of the APSC who has been caught on the wrong foot by the forensic experts.

Sources said that the former member, like Doley and Rahman, had allegedly enhanced marks of candidates appearing in the examinations under the APSC. Specimen of her handwriting seems to have matched with those found in some of the answer scripts sent for forensic examination, sources told The Assam Tribune.

Meanwhile, the Court of Special Judge, today remanded Basanta Doley to 12-day police remand.

Special Public Prosecutor BK Mahajan informed that although the investigators had sought 14-day police remand, the Court limited the remand period to 12 days keeping in view the length of Doleys previous custody period.

Doley, who was earlier arrested in connection with the Dibrugarh Police Station case, was once again arrested yesterday in connection with a case registered with the Bhangagarh Police Station.

Doley, as per a latest forensic report, along with another former member of the APSC has allegedly tampered with the answer scripts of 20 candidates who appeared for the post of Agriculture Development Officer (ADO) in 2014.

The bail application of Doley will be heard on the next date after the expiry of the remand period.
