Role of Booth Level Officers resented

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, March 9 The Greater Guwahati Citizens Co-ordination Committee has resented the way the Booth Level Officers engaged for the purpose of updating the voters lists in the city are functioning.

Though the procedures have made it mandatory for these officers to make door-to-door visits to collect information on the voters, they are, in fact, operating from their booth offices, said the Co-ordination Committee.

In its statement, the Co-ordination Committee has alleged further that some of these officers have been asking the voters to visit their offices for filling up the forms. They have even refused to hand over the forms to the voters for the purpose of filling up at their own places and then to submit to the booth offices set up by these officers, the Co-ordination Committee said.

Such practices of these officers have created a great inconvenience for many voters, who are not aware of the location of the booth offices. Many of the voters are also in the dark about the identity of their booth level officers concerned, the Co-ordination Committee said.
