TURA, Oct 24 � A hardcore militant of the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA), who has been on the run after killing a few of his own cadres, was arrested from the village of Salpara, Mendipathar in North Garo Hills last night after a tip off.

The police team recovered a huge stock of arms and ammunition after the arrested cadre led them to the district of West Khasi Hills, where he had hidden the arms.

�Grikchang Marak (Chuang), a resident of Salpara in Mendipathar was arrestd yesterday from his home. Upon being questioned in custody, he led us to where he had hidden arms and ammunition, while also informing us of what he did and how he came to posses them�, police said.

�He was a hard core militant who on the 12th of September killed his own area commander, Stil, along with another GNLA cadre, identified as Mandal and two ULFA (I) cadres, Babul Sangma and Wakang Boro,� a senior police official said.
