GUWAHATI, Sept 11 - One Surajit Basumatary of Udalguri was robbed by four dacoits near Jalukbari today. Basumatary had come to the city to purchase a power tiller.
The robbers followed him as soon as he got down from the train at the Maligaon Railway Station and looted a sum of Rs 1,40,000. Basumatary, however, managed to catch hold of one Razaul Haque. The rest three managed to escape along with the cash.
Haque was later handed over to the Jalukbari Police Outpost.
Thief held: Jalukbari Police apprehended one Saddam Ali from Sadilapur while he was trying to steal iron rods, batteries, etc., from the Gammon India Pvt Ltd campus last evening.
