BONGAIGAON, May 5 - Police arrested a robber named Bittu Shah (32) today at about 11 am before he could decamp from a building near Birjhora Kanya Mahavidyalaya in the town here. An electrician, Bittu runs a shop of electric parts in the same locality. He entered the residence of Subrata Roy when the former�s wife Rupa was alone and attempted to loot money and valuables. But when Rupa resisted and raised an alarm, he hit her with a heavy object on her head before escaping.
Bittu had scaled the two-storey building. Before he could jump down and make good his escape, police nabbed him and brought him to Bongaigaon Police Station. Critically injured Rupa was subsequently rushed to a private hospital.
