Roadshows in Europe to make Assam tourism popular

GUWAHATI, Nov 3 - Given the growing interest among the foreign tourists in Assam, the State Tourism department is organising a series of roadshows in Europe for the first time.

As part of the series, the first roadshow was held in Rome on October 31, in which more than 35 leading tour operators and other stakeholders based in Italy took part.

Similar events led by Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) Chairman Jayanta Malla Baruah will be held in Barcelona, at the World Travel Market (WTM), London and in Paris. The initiative that started on October 31 will culminate on November 8.

The roadshow event in Rome was attended by Niharika Singh, Deputy Chief of Mission, Indian Embassy, Rome as a guest of honour.

Sattriya dance and several other cultural programmes were held as part of the programme.

The ATDC chairman, in his welcome address, highlighted the rich tourism resources in Assam and highlighted the State�s tourism potential to the tour operators and stakeholders of Italy.

Bhaskar Phukan, Managing Director, ATDC, gave a presentation on Assam tourism, showcasing the tourist destinations across the State.
