Rly level crossing at Bhaluki PWD road

PATACHARKUCHI, Nov 5 � The dream of villagers will soon be realised as the 25 year-long effort to construct a railway level crossing at Patacharkuchi-Rampur via Bhaluki PWD road inbetween Tihu and Nizsariha halt station will be completed by the part of November. This was informed by the Divisional Railway manager, NF Railway Rangiya division to a team of representatives comprising 30 members of Railway Level Crossing Construction and demand committee after they deposited a draft amounting to Rs 3,40,33,400.00 to the Sr Divisional Engineer, Rangia division, vide Executive Engineers PWD Barpeta Rural Road divisions letter No-BRD/TB/2005-06/3619-23 as the final instalment of construction work of the said level crossing. After revceiving the draft, BK Badal, Sr Divisional Engineer (Cord) expressed happiness and thanked the demand committee for their strong efforts. He also told the team that the work will be completed in the latter part of November.

Mention may be made that the said PWD road for several villages in the southern part of NH-31 from Patacharkuchi is a heartline for communication but due to the absence of a level crossing, the communication was totally unsafe and vehicular comminication was not possible through the road. The people of the locality had demanded a level crossing in the portion as a number of accidents had occured in that place.The people of the area under the platform of Railway level Crossing Construction and Demand Committee ran from pillar to post for the said level crossing and at last the Railway authority expressed their willingness to construct the same if the concerned department of the State Government bears all the cost of construction and allied expenditure like employees. Accordingly, the Railway authority prepared an estimate of Rs one crore eighty two lakh for the same work and PWD deposited one crore to Railway deptt.and the work started on 12/02/2009. The process of completion of the said work suffered due to some official formalities and the cost jumped upto around Rs 4.5 crore. After paying the draft all the payment is clear from the State Government�s side.

The team also met Dr AK Manocha, Div Rly Manager, and submitted a memorendum for completing the work soon and also placed demand for development of the Nizsariha halt station adjacent to the level crossing site.
