Rio, NPCC congratulate Pranab Mukherjee

DIMAPUR, July 24 � Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and the State Congress have congratulated the newly-elected President of India, Pranab Mukherjee.

�Your landside victory is an indication of the faith the people of this great nation repose in you to hold the highest office in the land,� Chief Minister Rio stated in a congratulatory message addressed to Mukherjee.

The Chief Minister further said the victory is an indication that Mukherjee was being rewarded for the sterling quality of public service he had rendered and the exemplary personal sacrifices made for the nation during his long active political career.

�The office of Rashtrapati is the most befitting one for you to conclude your long and distinguished career as one of the most successful and respected political activists of our time,� the message added.

Wishing Mukherjee a distinguished and glorious tenure as Rashtrapati of this great nation, the CM said the goodwill and prayers of the people of Nagaland will always be with him.

Meanwhile, the NPCC president SI Jamir and his colleagues have felicitated Pranab Mukherjee for winning the presidential elections by a thumping majority and wished him a fruitful tenure at Rashtrapati Bhavan as the 13th President of India.

In a separate message, CLP leader and Leader of the Opposition Tokheho Yepthomi, on behalf of the Congress legislators, also congratulated the new President while maintaining that the massive win goes to the credit of the UPA govt and to the President elect who enjoys wide rapport with parliamentarians cutting across party lines.

The CLP leader also reiterated his appreciation to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Minister for Urban Development and NPF president Dr Sh�rhozelie for leading the NPF-led DAN legislators to vote in favour of Mukherjee.

Stating that the win has befitted a man of Mukherjee�s stature who has contributed immensely to the party and the govt in an illustrious political career spanning over five decades, the CLP wished him a fine innings as the 13th President of India.
