Rio launches NPF unit

SENAPATI, May 28 � Amidst a dawn-to-dusk general strike, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio visited Manipur�s Senapati district headquarter today and formally launched the Naga People�s Front (NPF�s) unit following an understanding with Manipur Chief Minister�s office through Union Home Minister P Chidambaram.

Thanking Union Home Minister for allowing the visit, Neiphiu Rio, who came along with several Ministers and MLAs including NPF president Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu, said that they came to launch NPF�s unit for peace and development.

Terming the launching of NPF unit in Manipur as a milestone in history, he said regional parties understand regional problems and local issues. �Today Nagas are not together under one umbrella. We should be emotionally and politically integrated � only then real intergation will come�, he said.

Meanwhile, Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh told the media that he had urged Rio to defer the visit on security ground. But Rio was allowed to visit following his assurance that the visit would not create any unwanted episode.
