By Correspondent

ITANAGAR, Jan 18 - Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju has called upon people of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh to maintain the age-old cordial relationship and said that petty cases along the inter-State boundary should not be given communal colour.

People of Assam and Arunachal have been maintaining a very good relationship since time immemorial and the same should be maintained at all costs, stated Rijiju while addressing a gathering after inaugurating the newly constructed building of Tarasso police station in Papum Pare district on Tuesday.

At a time when people of Arunachal Pradesh had been struggling for development, people of Assam contributed a lot. And now, people from Assam are getting the benefit from Arunachal in various forms, including government jobs, etc, he said. The disturbing activities of any organisation or individual should not be given a communal colour, the MoS for Home emphatically said.

Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, who accompanied Rijiju at the programme, said that Arunachal is having tremendous scope for development of food processing industries. She urged the State Government to take immediate steps in this direction.
