Rich tributes paid to Dr Haridutta Sarma

NALBARI, Nov 28 - Rich tributes were paid in memory of noted scholar and litterateur Dr Haridutta Sarma at a function organised by Nalbari Zila Sahitya Sabha at Nalbari Natya Mandir recently.

Speaking at the meeting, Dr Basanta Kumar Bhattacharya, former president of Nalbari Zila Sahitya Sabha said that a quality teacher enhances the prestige and dignity of an area. Dr Haridutta Sarma was such a teacher, who worked with utmost dedication for the uplift of the academic environment of Nalbari district.

The meeting was presided over by Rama Nath Baruah, president of Nalbari Zila Sahitya Sabha and addressed, among others, by Pradip Khataniyar, Head of the Department of Philosophy of Cotton College, Chiranjeev Jain, former Principal of Nalbari MNC Balika Mahavidyalaya, Hemanta Bhattacharya, Superintendent of Police, Nalbari.

A book published on the occasion was released by Dr Dilip Sarma, former Head of the Department of Mathematics, Cotton College.

Earlier, Era Sarma, the better half of Dr Haridutta Sarma offered garlands on the latter�s portrait while Prasanna Kumar Sarma, former Professor of Nalbari College lit the ceremonial lamp.
