GUWAHATI, Oct 12 � The RG Baruah Smriti Rakhya Committee will celebrate the 111th birth anniversary of Radha Govinda Baruah on October 17 at a function to be organised at Kanaklal Barua Auditorium of Assam State Museum here.
Eminent journalist DN Bezboruah will be the chief guest in the function which will start at 4 pm. Three eminent personalities of different fields will be felicitated on the occasion. The persons to be honoured are � noted social and cultural worker Sheikh Chand Mohammed, internationally acclaimed photographer Nalini Kanta Baruah and well known cricketer Bimal Bharali.
Sports Directorate to celebrate with day-long programme: The Directorate of Sports and Board of Sports, Assam will celebrate the birth anniversary of RG Baruah with a day-long programme at the RG Baruah Sports Complex here on October 17.
At 8 am they will pay tributes to the architect of modern Assam by garlanding the bust of RG situated in front of Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium.
From 9 am onwards, the organisers will conduct table tennis and badminton tournaments at ABITA Centenary Indoor Stadium and Kanaklata Indoor Stadium respectively. At 6 pm they will hold the prize distribution function. The organisers will also light ceremonial lamps inside the RG Baruah Sports Complex in the evening.
