ITANAGAR, July 18 Arunachal Pradesh DGP Kanwaljeet Deol on Wednesday announced a cash reward of Rs 2 lakh to anyone giving specific information or clue leading to the arrest of the unidentified gunman who fired upon a lady journalist, Tongam Rina, in the State capital here on Sunday.

Saying that the informers name and address will be kept secret, the DGP said any person desirous of giving the information may directly contact the SP (Capital) Hibu Tamang over his cell phone 09436040006.

Rina, the Associate Editor of Arunachal Times, a leading daily of the State, was shot at from point blank range by an unnamed assailant while she was entering her office around 6.15 pm on July 15, injuring the scribe critically. She was operated upon at RK Mission Hospital and the bullet was removed from her waist after hours of operation.

Four days on since the inhuman attack on the journalist, police are clueless on whereabouts of the attacker even though a case was registered in the Itanagar police station and a non-bailable arrest warrant issued against the unknown gunman.

Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, who is also the Minister in-charge of Home department, strongly urged the law enforcing officials that no matter what the person responsible for pulling the trigger on the journalist has to be arrested and punished.
