GUWAHATI, Dec 19 - The All Assam Students� Union (AASU) today demanded that the voters list of Assam should be revised on the basis of the updated National Register of Citizens (NRC). A delegation of the AASU met the Chief Electoral Officer of Assam, Vijayendra, and demanded that there is need for preparing a correct voters list in the State and it is only possible if the same is revised in accordance with the updated NRC. The AASU alleged that names of foreign nationals were included in the voters lists of Assam.
The CEO told the AASU delegation that as the Chief Election Commissioner is visiting Assam on December 21 and 22, the matter would be discussed and the final decision can only be taken by the Election Commission.
