Review meeting on NRC update held

GUWAHATI, Dec 12 - A review meeting on the NRC update process in Kamrup (Metro) district was held at the DC office here today.

The meeting was chaired by Kamrup (Metro) Deputy Commissioner Dr M Angamuthu.

The DC directed all officers to supervise the various NRC related tasks which are currently on and ensure that the deadlines are met.

Altogether 2,66,224 applicants have applied for NRC in Kamrup (Metro), covering five revenue circles and 78 NRC Sewa Kendras (NSK).

The meeting was informed that till date verification of 7,18,224 documents issued by different authorities, constituting 95 per cent of the total documents submitted, have been completed.

A total of 281 verification teams, comprising 1,100 staff, have been formed in the district for carrying out house-to-house field verification which started on December 1.

The DC informed that 25 per cent field verification in the district has been completed till December 11.
