Reverification of documents of 86,000 families in Karimganj to start today

BADARPUR, Nov 30 - Documents of 86,000 families of Karimganj district will be reverified for the National Register of Citizens (NRC) updating process from December 1. This was stated by high-level official sources on Tuesday. According to the sources, it has been informed that among 86,000 family documents of Karimganj district, under Badarpur Circle about 11,300 documents, in Nilambazar Circle 15,500, in Patherkandi Circle 16,000, in Ramakrishna Nagar Circle 17,500 and in Karimganj headquarter all total 25,000 family documents will be reverified by the NRC verification teams led by the officials of Local Register Of Citizenship Registration.

Sources also informed that according to NRC�s State Chief Prateek Hajela�s instructions, the process of NRC team formation has already concluded. From December 1, the work of NRC reverification or rechecking will begin in each and every dwelling houses, homes or residences of 86,000 families, sources said while adding that prior information in writing will be given to these families before reverification of the NRC documents.

Giving assurance to the people of entire Karimganj district, the sources also informed that there is no reason at all to worry since names of Indian citizens will not be eliminated from the NRC.

Only to ensure an error-free list of citizens, this reverification work is being done in Karimganj district. Sources also informed that the details of the legacy datas of the NRC documents will also be investigated along with reverification of the NRC documents, which were submitted with the application forms by the people. All these will be scrutinised in the service centres under the five circles of the entire Karimganj district. Another 40 additional verification centres will also be opened where only submitted legacy datas will be examined, sources informed.
