Restoration of train services may be delayed

NEW DELHI, Aug 18 - Hit by the floods, it will take at least one week for restoration of long distance train services to the Northeast, Minister of State for Railway Rajen Gohain said here today.

Briefing newsmen, Gohain said that the Railways is trying to repair the damaged tracks within next three-four days. He said that the Railways teams are ready to restore the rail links once the water recedes.

The Railways has made arrangements to run two special train services from Guwahati so that passengers can reach West Bengal, he added. The passengers can then travel up to Malda in buses and from Malda station they can travel to different parts of the country, he said.
