Report on Boterhat mob harassment made public

DHUBRI, Oct 11 - The Dhubri Legal Service Authority (DLSA) recently deputed legal aid counsels to enquire and report on the mob harassment incident that took place at the Boterhat area where a crowd shaved the head and eyebrows of a women for obstructing her minor child�s marriage.

Legal aid counsels Rajesh Kumar Verma and Ejaz Ahmed, advocates, DLSA, reported on the incident which was registered with the Golokganj police station (case no. 1030/2018 U/S. 147/148/323/354(B)/342/325/326/307 IPC).

They also reported that the victim also sustained grievous injuries on her right leg and her right hand.

Advocate Ejaz Ahmed stated that one Bablu threatened Ramisha Bibi, the victim, to withdraw her earlier case which was filed by her alleging that Bablu is conspiring to get her minor son married to a minor girl.

When she refused to withdraw the case, Bablu used slang languages against her and forcibly took her to a house where she was attacked by a mob comprising women.

The victim further stated before the counsels that her husband and son informed the police about the incident and a police case was registered against the perpetrators.

�The victim Ramisha Bibi demanded justice and compensation for the crime committed against her,� said Ahmed. It may be mentioned here that three persons have already been arrested in this connection and a few others are still absconding.
