GAURIPUR, Aug 29 - The Madhusoulmari-Dumardaha PWD road under 23 Dhubri and 24 Gauripur LACs catering to the needs of over one lakh people of villages like Madhusoulmari, Gauripur, Khidirmari, Dhorarghat, Rupshi, Daobangi, Kurirpar, Naidergaon, Chatan, Bresmari etc., has remained neglected for years together.

There are a number of schools and temples along the vital road, which is used by the people to go to Dhubri and Gauripur for various purposes.

The present condition of the road is so horrible that an ambulance cannot also use the road to ferry critical patients. The eight-km stretch of the road is full of ditches and in rainy season, the entire road remains submerged.

During the second term of the AGP government, the road was repaired by making it a concrete one. However, substandard materials were used in the construction and after some years, the road got totally damaged.

During the last part of the Congress government also the road was repaired, but presently, the entire road is in a dilapidated condition and needs to be repaired again.

Every year, a number of Durga Puja festivals are celebrated in the villages along the road, as also the annual Kali Puja at the '33 Crore Gods Temple' where thousands of people take part. The present condition of the road is such that it will be impossible for these devotees to attend these festivals this year. Therefore, people irrespective of caste and creed have demanded that the vitally-important road be repaired immediately before the coming Durga Puja so that they can take part in it without any problems.
