Renovated Nagaon Kala Mandir opened

NAGAON, Feb 19 � The Nagaon Kala Mandir, though established in 1956, has a long history of more than a hundred years.

Sirastadar Rabilal Bhuyan (father of well-known scholar Dr SK Bhuyan) started Durga Puja in the same place, where the Nagaon Kala Mandir now stands, 112 years ago. Later, an organisation christened as Fouzdaripatty socio-cultural organisation was formed, where doyen of Assam politics Matiram Bora, freedom fighter Mahi Chandra Bora, devoted lover of the country Radhika Mohan Goswami, former minister Mahendra Nath Saikia, social worker Bimala Bora and others rooted the seeds of the Nagaon Kala Mandir.

In the later period, advocate Hem Sharma, social activist Troilokya Bora and others extended their contribution to bring the Nagaon Kala Mandir up to the mark.

This history of Nagaon Kala Mandir was narratted by Kabin Bora, an old resident of Nagaon Fouzdaripatty and retired Director of Information and Public Relations while delevering his welcome address to the guests and others who were gathered on the occasion of inauguration of the renovated Kala Mandir.

Bora also praised Minister Rockybul Hussain for his interest for the all-round development of the State, specially Nagaon.

Rockybul Hussain, while inaugurating the renovated Nagaon Kala Mandir, recalled his association with Fouzdaripatty since his childhood and appealed to the people to work for creating an healthy atmosphere in all spheres for all-round development of the State. He also highlighted the programmes of the present Government.

Lalit Ch Dutta chaired the function, which was conducted by Doly Bora. A chorus was also presented in the beginning. Four renowned persons in the field of culture, namely Dhirendra Nath Das, Hareswar Baruah, Arun Kr Barman and Chuni Bhattacharyya, were felicitated in the function. A young badminton player Rajshekhar Das was also felicitated in the function.

Hussain provided assistance to the tune of several lakhs from different Government sources for renovation of the Kala Mandir. The secretary Sourav Bora offered the vote of thanks.
