Relief materials distributed to flood-hit

GOALPARA, Nov 2 - The inaugural ceremony of Indian Red Cross Society�s (IRCS) flood relief materials distribution to the flood-affected people under Lakhipur circle was organised in the campus of the Circle office recently.

Inaugurating the ceremony, retired professor and IRCS life member Dr Mira Devi said that the relief materials are for those who have been displaced and affected by the recent floods in the area. The relief materials include utensils, blanket and other essential items.

Highlighting the activities of the Red Cross, she also said that the Red Cross Society has made maximum efforts to reach out to the flood-hit victims and urged the people to cooperate with the authorities during the process of distribution.

Meanwhile, the IRCS chairman of Goalpara branch, Sailen Das, while explaining the objectives of the programme said that the IRCS members have a keen interest in the humanitarian works and the organisation has responded to the needs of the vulnerable people in the time of floods in this area regularly.

He also informed that a total of 250 packets of relief materials would be distributed to the flood-hit victims. He also thanked his other team members and IRCS members for their support and help at the time of natural disaster.

IRCS life member Md Mohiruddin Ahmed also spoke on the occasion. Other IRCS members like Sumitra Devi, Professor Iddriss Ali Ahmed, IRCS worker Raj Sarma, programme manager Laba Kummar, DDMA official Sachindra Chakravorty, NDRT and in charge of IRCS warehouse Noonmati, Munindra Sarma were also present on the occasion.
