By The Assam Tribune

GUWAHATI, Aug 8 - A flood relief camp was organised by Sri Sathya Sai Seva organisation of Kamrup (Rural) and Kamrup (Metro) districts along with Sri Sathya Sai Trust (NE) on August 7 in Maharani Gaon (Nadi Par Suba), around 30 kilometres from Pathsala town, stated a press release issued here.

The entire area was devastated by floodwaters recently following the release of excess water from a dam located in Bhutan. There was heavy damage to household properties including agricultural fields in the locality.

The village is situated in such a remote place that there was barely any relief that reached the locality. The programme was actively assisted and supported by local organisation Pathsala Samannay.

Relief kits containing rice, dal, mustard oil, sugar, chira, soap, biscuits, cake, bleaching powder, mosquito repellent, etc., were distributed. Garments for people of different age groups were also distributed.

The people of the locality offered their sincere gratitude to Sri Sathya Sai Seva organisation for the relief materials, the release added.
