Relief for daily wage earners in Dimapur

DIMAPUR, May 8 - The District Disaster Management Authority, Dimapur, in coordination with the district administration, has been distributing relief packages to cover 11,000 daily wage earners in the district as per guidelines of the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority. The first consignment of relief packages was distributed to 450 beneficiaries at Khuhuboto on May 6.

A bigger consignment was distributed on Friday, covering 1,000 beneficiaries at Niuland, 1,000 at Chumukedima, 600 at Medziphema and 450 at Dhansiripar. The relief packages included 10 kg rice, 1 kg lentils, 1 kg Naga dal, half-a-litre of mustard oil, 1 kg sugar, 1 kg salt, 200 gm tea, two pieces of bathing soap, two pieces of detergent, 100 gm masala, 1 kg of onions and garlic and 100 gm of chilli powder.

The district administration has appreciated the Western Sumi Hoho, Red Cross volunteers, Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Naga Council Dimapur and the Food and Civil Supplies Department for helping in packaging the relief materials since April 29.

Supply of vegetables to frontline workers: BoonFi, a home delivery firm based in Kohima, supplied organic vegetables to the Dimapur Deputy Commissioner�s Office, Commissioner of Police Office and the Chumukedima Town Council Office on Friday for distribution among frontline workers in the district. The vegetables were brought from the hills of Japfu town in Kohima district.

The firm ferries essential items from Dimapur to Kohima and on the return journey, brings vegetables for free distribution among the frontline workers.

Meanwhile, Dimapur Additional Deputy Commissioner V Lovitoly Sema has thanked the BoonFi members for their service for the frontline workers.
