Relief camp inmates decreasing

GUWAHATI, Jan 1 � The number of relief camps and camp inmates continued to decrease during last 24 hours. In the last 24 hours, ten camps were closed down in three districts � Udalguri, Sonitpur and Kokrajhar. In Udalguri, a camp inhabited by Adivasi inmates has been closed and in Sonitpur three camps inhabited by Adivasi inmates has been closed.

In Kokrajhar district, two camps inhabited by Bodo and four camps inhabited by Adivasi inmates have been closed during this period.

At Total 8,849 inmates have left for their villages in the last 24 hours, an official release said.

As on today, approximately 2,36,349 people are living in 118 relief camps in the four of districts of Kokrajhar, Chirang, Sonitpur and Udalguri.

In Kokrajhar district approximately 1,97,189 inmates are living in 81 relief camps, while in Chirang 29,746 inmates are staying in 23 relief camps. In Sonitpur, 5,822 inmates are there in six relief camps and in Udalguri, 3,592 inmates are in eight relief camps.
