MUSHALPUR, April 1 - The Sanmilita Janagosthiya Oikyamancha has fielded former minister Rekha Rani Das Boro as their candidate for No. 62 Barama Assembly constituency, reserved for Scheduled Tribes. The former AGP minister has been eyeing the non-Bodo votes for a win like the one registered by Naba Kumar Sarania in the last Lok Sabha polls. But the fielding of Paniram Rabha as the Congress candidate may make the going tough for Rekha Rani Das Boro as the former is also likely to gain the support of non-Bodo voters and other Congress supporters from the Bodo community.
There was initial speculation about the Congress and non-Bodo organisations fielding a common candidate against the BPF. The division of non-Bodo votes among Rekha Rani Das Boro, Paniram Rabha and Independent candidate Bhupen Das is likely to benefit the BPF candidate.
