TURA, April 15 - The MDC of Boldamgre, Stevie Marak has sought for business persons from outside the State of Meghalaya to be registered under Trading for Non Tribals (TNT) as well as hawkers licenses.
Marak said that the increasing number of residents of Assam who do business in the South West Garo Hills do not come with valid licenses which thereby means loss to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council. Marak urged those who come from outside to trade to apply for the same as there were legalities involved and they would take the matter up earnestly if the same was not complied with.
Earlier, the MDC had raised the point of timber smuggling and provided more information on routes being used to smuggle timber across the State to Assam.
