Refinery donates furniture

GUWAHATI, April 25 - Guwahati Refinery provided furniture to Shishu Ashray Sthal, a shelter home of NGO Deepsikha Foundation meant for the young cancer patients undergoing treatment, at Sixmile here recently, according to a press release issued here today.

Indian Oil Director (Refineries) BV Rama Gopal who was on a two-day visit to Guwahati Refinery, handed over the items during a ceremonial programme organised at the centre. The items have been provided under Guwahati Refinery�s CSR initiatives.

In his address at the programme, Rama Gopal said Indian Oil has always been engaging with institutions which work towards bettering the lives of the marginalised section of society. He appreciated Deepsikha Foundation for its efforts towards the young cancer patients since inception.

The programme was also attended by S Manchanda, Executive Director (Guwahati Refinery) along with other senior officials of the refinery, members of Deepsikha Foundation, young inmates of the centre and guardians.

Shishu Ashray Sthal of Deepsikha Foundation is a 35-bed free residential home at Sixmile for cancer-affected children from outstation locations where the children along with their parents or guardians are provided free accommodation, meals and local transportation to Guwahati-based multi-specialty hospitals during the course of their long-term treatment in Guwahati.

The young cancer patients in addition to their treatment at city-based hospitals, are also provided with facilities for pursuing their formal education through a need-based school operated by the trust at Shishu Ashray Sthal.
