Reeling, spinning centre opened at Machkhowa

DHEMAJI, June 26 - A community reeling and spinning centre was opened at Bengenagara Lagasu village of Machkhowa Development Block in Dhemaji district on June 20 last under the Tribal Sub-Plan of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dhemaji conducted by Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat.

Dr Ranoj Pegu, MLA of Dhemaji LAC formally inaugurated the reeling and spinning centre in the presence of Dr Hemendra Chandra Bhattacharya, Director of Extension Education, Assam Agricultural University and a gathering of local people.

In his speech, MLA Pegu hoped that the newly-installed community reeling and spinning centre at Bengenagara Lagasu village would fulfil a long-felt need of the people in the area. He also added that he would supply seeds of a hybrid endi tree named �borpaat� to the people of the area.

The inaugural ceremony was also addressed by Dr HC Bhattacharya, while the ceremony was initiated by Dr Gunjan Gogoi, Head Officer of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Dhemaji.
