UDALGURI, July 18 - Under the Extended Gram Swaraj Abhijan-II of the Central government, the Udalguri district administration in association with the Assam Skill Development Mission today organised a day-long recruitment mela based on skill of youths in prescribed seven disciplines.
A meeting to this effect was chaired by Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, project director of DRDA, Udalguri. He explained the process of recruitment under the given criteria. He also mentioned that there are 38,783 unemployed youths in Udalguri district as registered in the Udalguri employment exchange.
On the occasion, the recruitment rally was inaugurated by Dilip Kumar Das, Deputy Commissioner of Udalguri district. He said that the Union government is trying its level best to impart various skill based training for employment to 65 per cent youths of our nation and to connect the youths to skills, the government has opened the Ministry of Skill Development so that human resources in real sense could be developed to make our nation self reliant and developed in near future.
Speaking on the occasion, Ananda Prakash Tewari, Managing Director of Assam Skill Development Mission, said, �We in Indian have been dreaming of a traditional India after acquiring traditional education. But India is rapidly changing in all fronts. There are hundreds of new companies with latest technology adopted by them. As the economic growth is witnessed, there are scores of avenues to opt for by the educated skilled youths. If we acquire skill in a particular field, the opted job will hanker after us.�
He put a special focus on the well defined skilled eco-system for the youths. He also urged the people�s representatives of Udalguri district to find out potentialities of the youths in various fields and inform the ASDM. Tewari also added, �Unless the private sector of our country is developed, we cannot think of development of our country.� He informed that 650 youths of Udalguri district have been able to get jobs in five skill training centres of the district till date this year.
Tewari also appealed to the parents and guardians of children to guide their children so that their wards can do the self evaluation for any job or duty.
The meeting to this effect was also attended by Charan Boro, MLA of Mazbat LAC; Col Rahul of 14 Garhwal Rifles; Rajveer Singh, SP of Udalguri district; Dr Devashish Borah, senior scientist, KVK; among others.
