GUWAHATI, July 9 - The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) today claimed that recognition to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) as the world�s largest social safety scheme by the World Bank (WB) and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) has proved the commitment of the Congress towards the people of the country.
A survey in this connection was conducted by the State of Social Safety Nets 2015, which revealed that 15 per cent of the country�s people, that is 182 million people, have been able to secure social security.
