Reception panel for Sankardev Sangha formed

BISWANATH CHARIALI, May 10 - The 86th annual session of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha will be held at Gohpur in Biswanath district in February next year.

In this respect, a public meet was held recently at Ramananda Kshetra, Sengmara, Kalabari to discuss the matter thoroughly. Around 2000 representatives of several organisations including Vaidik Vaishnav Mahasabha, Naam Dharma Samaj, Ek Saran Bhagawati Samaj, Naam Dharma Janajati Samaj, Asam Satra Mahasabha, AASU, AJYCP, TMPK, AAGSU etc., from Biswanath, Tezpur, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Jonai and Dhakuakhana were present in the meet. The meet was presided over by Bhabendra Nath Deka, Padadhikar, Srimanta Shankerdev Sangha while the proceedings were conducted by Kumud Borah, Gohpur district president of the organisation. The central general secretary, Babul Borah inaugurated the session.

The speakers dwelt at length upon the various issues related to the State-level convention and joined hands to hold it successfully. After threadbare discussions, a strong reception committee was formed unanimously with Ganesh Handique as president, the Gohpur MLA as working president, Tarun Borah and Deben Saikia as vice-presidents, Gunaram Saikia as general secretary and Prashanta Saikia and Jogen Pegu as joint secretaries. A finance sub-committee was also formed with Prashanta Kakati as president and Budhindra Borah as secretary in the meet.
