RBI meet on FEMA

GUWAHATI, March 9 - The Foreign Exchange Department of the Reserve Bank of India, Guwahati, organised a Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) meet along with the quarterly customer service meeting here on Tuesday, a delayed press release stated.

BK Mishra, RBI Regional Director for North Eastern Region inaugurated the meeting. In his keynote address he briefed the participants on the growth of the foreign exchange market in India. He also stressed the importance of the modern risk management system and improved customer service for growth of the forex market in India.

MT Muanding Guite, RBI Deputy General Manager gave a briefing on different circulars relating to foreign exchange management and advised all the participants to get the circulars from the RBI website.

PK Kalita, Manager, RBI briefed the participants on FERA and FEMA through a power point presentation. SP Bhattacharjee, Assistant Manager, RBI, briefed the participants on import-export and money changing activities.

The seminar was attended by officials from various public and private sector banks, FFMCs and customers dealing with forex.
