NAGAON, Sept 29 - Following an order dated May 17, 2015 (No. PMA/492/2013/10) and letter dated March 4, 2015(No. PMA/492/2013/288), of the Department of Elementary Education, Government of Assam, in Nagaon district also the rationalisation process of lower and upper primary school teachers of Nagaon district is on. The process is being carried out by a high-powered committee formed by the DC, Nagaon.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Purabi Konwar informed newsmen that teachers have been warned not to fall into the net of middlemen in this connection, otherwise legal action will be taken against them.

On the other hand, a press release issued by the Publicity Department (no. 363) of the district informed that non release of funds to the Nagaon Municipality, as alleged by its chairman, Diganta Das and vice-chairman, Mrinalini Roy was not based on facts. The release added that it was true that an amount of Rs 2,15, 39,128 for the year 2014-15 was lying in the account of the DC, Nagaon, which the latter did not release due to the fact that a new rule had been framed according to which, prior approval from the Finance department has to be taken for the release of the amount. The DC office has already approached the Finance department to grant the necessary approval to release the amount to the Nagaon Municipality. The name of the Nagaon Deputy Commissioner has been unnecessarily dragged into this issue, the release said.
