TURA, Dec 28 - Three teenagers, who are accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl, today surrendered at the Tura Women�s Police Station in West Garo Hills district. The trio allegedly raped the girl on Christmas Day.
The victim lodged a complaint with the police after the doctor of a local hospital where she was being treated, informed the police about the incident. The three accused had been absconding.
�They surrendered today. All the three claimed to be below 18 years of age and they have been forwarded to the Juvenile Justice Board. Earlier, there was a manhunt to nab the three accused in the case,� West Garo Hills SP Dr MGR Kumar.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
