SHILLONG, Nov 12 � The Chief Judicial Magistrate�s Court in Tura today remanded a rape accused King Victor Marak to 14 day judicial custody.
Marak is accused of committing rape on a four and a half year-old girl in Koinadubi village, near Dalu in West Garo Hills district. Following a complaint, a case of rape under sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act was registered against Marak. He was arrested on November 9.
The alleged incident took place on November 6, when the victim was playing outside her home. �As per the victim�s family, the accused lured the girl by some pretext and took her to an isolated location and raped her�, said a police official. The incident came to light after the girl was found crying in pain. �The victim is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Tura�, the official added.
