RANGIYA, April 29: A number of businessmen under the aegis of the Rangiya Chambers of Commerce gheraoed the Rangiya police station in protest against the alleged failure of police in ensuring safety and security of the people of the town.
The protesters yesterday criticised Rangiya police for not being able to prevent rampant snatching and robbery incidents in the last few months.
Some unidentified motorcycleborne miscreants snatched a bag of cash from Rangiya Chambers of Commerce secretary Majibuddin Ahmed from near from his house at Solmari here on the night of April 26.
The commerce body submitted a memorandum to the Superintendent of Police (Kamrup) to ensure security and safety of the common people.
