RANGIYA, April 5 - With only a few days left for elections here for the 57-Rangiya LAC seat, a stiff challenge is likely to be faced by the Congress party candidate and the seating MLA, Ghanashyam Kalita, mainly from BJP-AGP-BPF alliance candidate Bhabesh Kalita, and Independent candidate Dr Mrinal Deka, a former Congress leader.
Besides, Independent candidate and former AGP minister Thaneswar Boro, CPM candidate Ananta Deka and AIUDF candidate Adus Samad Choudhury and other candidates in the fray will also split votes subsequently making the poll statistics a complex one. Particularly, the Independent candidate Dr Mrinal Deka, CPM candidate Ananta Deka, and the AIDUF candidate have already started their poll campaign in full swing and organised several election rallies in the constituency.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Sarkar, also attended an election rally of the CPI(M) here on Monday and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to attend a BJP rally here at Chepti near Rangiya on April 8.
All the anti-Congress candidates are trying their best to gain votes by focussing mainly on the overall development, including unemployment, road communication, education and health facilities, particularly in the rural areas of the constituency.
It�s is worth mentioning that in total 1,68,596 voters, including 88,375 males and 80,221 females, will cast their votes on April 11 and the local administration has made all preparatory measures for smooth conduct of elections in all the 200 polling stations, including 99 in the BTAD areas of which 68 and 26 have been identified as sensitive and hyper-sensitive booths, respectively.
