DIBRUGARH, March 16 � Management committees of different schools in the district have expressed grave concern over alleged random transfer of teachers without considering mother tongue of the respective teachers and also without considering the student-teacher ratio.
Presidents and members of various school management committees have placed an appeal before the Deputy Commissioner, Dibrugarh and District Mission Co-ordinator of Sarba Shiksha Abhiyan, requesting the district authorities to reconsider the transfer of teachers.
The representatives of the school management committees have pointed out that a teacher having Bengali mother tongue is being transferred to Hindi medium school or vice versa. So also a teacher with Hindi mother tongue is tranferred to Assamese medium schools, the committees remarked. �It is an established fact that a teacher whose mother tongue is different from that of the students cannot communicate effectively and the students too would find it difficult to communicate with the teacher�, the management committee members have said.
Since every vernacular medium school is affected due to this decision of ignoring the mother tongue of teachers, the committees have said that a teacher having mother tongue of same language should be engaged in teaching in same medium schools for the interest of students.
In a memorandum to the authorities, the school management committees said that they were never consulted before the teachers were being tranferred although they were constituted to look after the affairs of the school. �The sudden deterioration of teaching standard at different schools due to sudden transfer of teachers along with lack of quality education with absence of competitive examination is compelling some of the parents of the students to rethink of continuation of education of their children in their respective schools,� the committees informed the district authorities concerned. The committees have also urged the authorities to pay sudden visits to schools.
