Ramkumar clinches PSPB tennis crown

GUWAHATI, Dec 10 - India No. 1 and Davis Cupper Ramkumar Ramanathan of IOCL clinched the Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) men�s singles title by defeating his teammate Sumit Nagal.

In the summit clash at the All Assam Tennis Association complex in Chachal here today, Sumit conceded the match at the score of 5-5 in the 1st set due to illness. In the veterans singles final, Hakim Ali of Oil India Limited defeated Bhushan Akut of BPCL 6-4, 6-4 to claim the title. In the prize distribution ceremony, trophies were distributed by Bishwajit Roy, Director HR and BD, OIL and Dipankar Ray, Executive Director Marketing (NE), IOCL. The championship was organised by OIL where seven petroleum companies took part.

Final results: (Men�s singles) Ramkumar Ramanathan (IOCL) bt Sumit Nagal (IOCL) 5-5. (Conceded). (Veterans singles) Hakim Ali (OIL) bt Bhushan Akut (BPCL) 6-4, 6-4. (Veterans doubles) Santosh Kumar (ONGC)/Sanjeev Kumar (ONGC) bt Hakim Ali (OIL)/Jayanta Kumar Malakar (OIL) 6-4, 7-6 (4).
