GUWAHATI, Feb 9 - Sattriya exponent Ramkrishna Talukdar has been conferred the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for his contribution in the field of Sattriya dance by President Ram Nath Kovind at a glittering function held at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi on February 6, a press release stated.
A total of 42 artistes were awarded in different categories for the year 2017. Nine artistes received awards for their contribution in the field of dance, among which Ramkrishna Talukdar was also one of the awardees.
They were given a chance to showcase their individual talents at a function organised by the Akademi where Ramkrishna Talukdar performed with his team on February 7 at Meghdoot Theatre. The performance was highly appreciated by the audience. The other two eminent personalities who were also awarded are Nuruddin Ahmed for stage craft and Jagannath Bayan for traditional music Khol from Assam.
