Ramen Baruah honoured

GUWAHATI, Oct 17 - Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi handed over the lifetime achievement award to veteran music director of Assamese film industry Ramen Baruah at the award presentation ceremony of the 6th State Film Award Festival here this evening. The award carries Rs 1 lakh in cash, a citation and a trophy.

The award for best lyricist, best playback singer ( female), best art director and best playback singer (male) went to Birinchi Kumar Medhi, Anindita Paul, Pradeep Barua and Zubeen Garg respectively.

A host of other awards were given in different categories at the awards function, which was organised jointly by the State Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Assam State Film (Finance and Development) Corporation and Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio Society at the ITA Centre for Performing Arts, Machkhowa.

Bollywood actor and Member of Parliament Raj Babbar was the guest of honour.

Agriculture Minister Rakibul Hussain, Cultural Affairs Minister Bismita Gogoi and State Chief Secretary VK Pipersenia were also present on the occasion.
