Rama Kanta Deori new CEM of Tiwa Council

MORIGAON, Oct 9 - Rama Kanta Deori, leader of the Tiwa Jatiya Oikya Manch (Tiwa Solidarity Forum) has been elected as the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Tiwa Autonomous Council, even as his party with support from AGP, BJP and two Congress members, managed to get 16 members in the 30-member Tiwa Council today.

In the TAC election held on August 18, out of 30 seats, 15 were won by Congress, 10 by Tiwa Jatiya Oikya Manch, 3 by BJP and 2 by AGP. As no party got the majority in the TAC, the Deori-led Tiwa Jatiya Oikya Manch was supported by AGP, BJP and two Congress members.

North Assam Division Commissioner Biswa Ranjan Samal today administered the oath and official secrecy to all the elected members of the Council.

Khagen Bordoloi of Tiwa Jatiya Oikya Manch was elected as the new Chairman of TAC.
