Rajesh Kumar Jalan granted bail

GUWAHATI, Feb 2 - Rajesh Kumar Jalan, the prime accused in the multi-crore BG Bonded Warehouse excise scam, has been granted bail by the Gauhati High Court on Friday.

The court allowed him to go on bail against a bond of Rs 1 lakh and a surety of like amount to the satisfaction of the trial court with a direction to appear before the investigating officer as and when required for the purpose of further investigation and will not leave the jurisdiction of the trial court without prior permission till the completion of the investigation.

Jalan, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on October 30, 2018, was represented by advocate Bijon Mahajan while the ED was represented by standing counsel A Gayan.

Mahajan, while arguing for the petitioner, cited several discrepancies in the way the case was handled by the investigating agency, which the court took cognizance of.

Jalan has also been directed to submit his passport to the court.
